What an exciting day at Kerem! The Israeli Theatre, sponsored by the World Zionist Organisation, performed 3 incredible shows - The Ugly Duckling for the EYU, The Tortoise and the Hare for Year 1, 2 and 3 and The Heart for Year 4,5 and 6. The children learnt the words and meanings during Ivrit lessons this week so they were very prepared and were able to identify many key words from the shows. The theme this year was V’Ahavta L’Reacha Kamocha - Love your neighbour as yourself.

FACES OF ISRAEL- India week. 
 

What a week it’s been learning all about the Indian Jewish community who made aliyah to Israel. The children discovered the rich history, culture and traditions of the Bene Israel, the Cochin and the Bagdhadi Indian Jews. They enjoyed learning about the traditions they brought with them such as music, food, art and language. Every class was involved in a hands on activity which brought the Indian Jewish community to life at Kerem School.  We were fortunate enough to listen to the real life experiences of Silas who came to speak to the children about life in India growing up Jewish and then his experiences making aliyah to Israel. They asked fascinating questions. What a wonderful way to connect to Israel and appreciate the melting pot of cultures and communities that make up the tapestry of the country.
