British Values
Promoting Fundamental British Values
British Values are integral to all learning that takes place at Kerem. We aim to prepare the children to be active citizens in a modern secular world. Throughout daily school life we expect pupils to act in accordance with values that guide relationships and behaviour fundamental to British Values.
The fundamental British Values as defined by the Department for Education are:
- Democracy
- Rule of Law
- Individual Liberty
- Mutual Respect
- Tolerance for those of different faiths and beliefs.
At Kerem School, each of these values is explicitly taught through PSHE and all other curriculum areas. We teach our children to value, respect and understand the different cultures and religions that makeup Britain today. We promote British Values by ensuring that our curriculum planning and delivery includes genuine opportunities to explore these values. Amongst other things, we commemorate Poppy Day and Marie Curie Day, go on trips and invite a range of visitors to the school who all enhance this learning.
