Library Year 2-4
A library book will be given to each child to take home and read at their leisure. The children will then need to write a short book review in Hebrew. The children do not need to understand every word of the book.
They should try to get the 'gist' of the story and the review can be a few familiar words if longer sentences are more challenging.
The books should be returned as often as possible (minimum one every half term).
Library time in Year 5 and 6 will be during class time and the books will not come home.

Ivrit lessons do not always follow the curriculum. There are many cross curricular lessons for example during Book Week, Ivrit is taught through storytelling and creative writing. In Art Week, Ivrit is taught through paintings and Israeli artists. During the Chagim, Ivrit lessons include relevant songs, activities, foods and stories from Israel. The Israeli Theatre comes in once a year to perform shows in Ivrit. The language is taught in tandem with the culture (there will be a week long focus on one particular culture of people who live in Israel; this project is known as-'The Many Faces of Israel'). In the week leading up to Yom HaAtsmaut will be 'Israel Week' where the focus will be Israel based studies only (art, food, dance, geography, history..). Where possible the culture is brought into the classroom through videos, Israeli guests, drama, foods and song.
