W/C 9th December 2024. The children have been working hard learning the words for the song in Ivrit for the end of year show - Shnay Chaverim - שני חברים. They have learnt the adjectives שמח, עצוב (sad, happy) as well as many other opposites in Ivrit.

W/C 4th November 2024. The children have been learning all about סתו - Autumn. They are able to say many words associated with the season including the plurals. This week we collected leaves - עלים נושרים and used them to decorate the song we have been learning in Ivrit.

W/C 7th October 2024. The children have learnt the word סליחה - sorry! They thought about who they would say סליחה to and wrote letters in Ivrit.

W/C 23rd September 2024. The children in Year 2 have been learning words and phrases in Ivrit for Rosh HaShana. They can greet each other in Ivrit and say the foods they eat and love.

שָׁנָה טוֹבָה - Shana Tova
אֲנִי אוֹהֵב תַּפּוּחַ וּדְבַשׁ- I love apple and honey
אֲנִי אוֹכֶלֶת רִמּוֹן בְּרֹאשׁ הַשָּׁנָה- I eat pomegranate on Rosh HaShana
אֲנִי אוֹהֶבֶת חַלָּה עֲגֻלָה בְּרֹאשׁ הַשָּׁנָה - I love round challah on Rosh HaShanah

The children decorated boxes for the Dvash and wrote blessings in Ivrit.

W/C 16th September 2024. The children learnt the names of unusual fish in Ivrit and decorated their own fish, saying the names in Ivrit. (crab)סַרְטָן (octopus) תְּמָנוּן דָּג זָהָב(gold fish) צָב(turtle) כּוֹכַב יָם(star fish) לִויָתָן(whale) סוּס יָם(seahorse) (clown fish)דָּג לֵיצָן

We loved welcoming Year 2 to Ivrit!

The children were introduced to some common basic greetings which we will be using in every lesson.

שָׁלוֹם- hello/bye
בֹּקֶר טוֹב- good morning
צָהֳרַיִם טוֹבִים- good afternoon
אֶפְשָׁר לָלֶכֶת לַשֵּׁרוּתִים בְּבַקָּשָׁה- Can I go to the toilet please?
מָה שְׁלוֹמְךָ?/מָה שְׁלוֹמֵךְ?- How are you? (m/f)
טוֹב תּוֹדָה/ מְצֻיָן/ כָּכָה כָּכָה- good thanks/ excellent/ so so

They learnt that the start of the year looks very different in Israel where the sun still shines and the children are in shorts and t shirts still.

They decorated bracelets with the Ivrit words - מַתְחִילִים בַּחִיּוּךְ - start with a smile. 😁
