Ivrit - עִבְרִית
February 2025 - Year 1 have had an amazing 1st half of the Spring term. It’s hard to believe it is already half term! They learnt many Ivrit words and phrases for חורף - ‘Choref’ - ‘Winter’. The visit from the Israeli theatre allowed the children to learn key words and phrases about the show - ‘The Lion and the Mouse’ (האריה והעכבר). And finally we ended the half term learning the names of fruits and trees for Tu BiShvat. The yearly project ‘The Many Faces of Israel’ focused on Moroccan Jews and the children loved learning all about the traditional dances and songs.
Year 1 loved performing the song about the Nachalieli at the End of Year show.
December 2024. Year 1 have been learning Ivrit words and phrases for Chanukah. They can say what they eat - sufganiyot, levivot, shokolad and have learnt many Israeli songs for this wonderful chag.
November 2024. Year 1 have been learning all about the season Autumn - סתו. They have learnt a lovely song about the bird נחליאלי (Nachalieli) and discovered how she loves the water (נחל) and has a long tail (זנב)
