Promoting Fundamental British Values.
British Values are integral to all learning that takes place at Kerem. We aim to prepare the children to be active citizens in a modern Secular world. Through our broad-based Jewish Studies curriculum we aim to instil a deep knowledge and appreciation of Jewish tradition and ethnicity. Throughout daily school life, we expect pupils to act in accordance with values that guide relationships and behaviour fundamental to British Values, expected of the British Society.
The fundamental British Values as defined by the Department for Education are:
rule of law
tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.
At Kerem School, each of these values are explicitly taught through PSHE, Jewish Studies and other curriculum areas. We teach our children to value, respect and understand the different cultures and religions that make up Britain today. Our children are enabled to explore and understand both their Jewish heritage as well as what it means to be British through our rich and balanced curriculum. We actively promote British Values through ensuring that our curriculum planning and delivery includes genuine opportunities to explore these values. We commemorate Poppy day, Remembrance Day, Marie Curie Day and others through school assemblies.
